FitStation is where fitness life (activities, leaders, gyms, studios, groups and friends) all come together to spread the power of community fitness. Through this platform, gyms can help keep their members engaged which will in-turn reduce the revolving door of gym members.

Planning & Approach

Product Cycle

We used a lean UX product cycle which is a user-centric approach that focuses on reducing the costs produced during the design cycle and enhancing the UX through multiple iterations and minimal time on documentation.

We started with a kickoff meeting to understand the core beliefs and vision of FitStation. Digital Karma created personas and did a competitive comparative analysis. We met with the client to do a card sort and figure out what are the core features and functions were for their MVP. We categorized them into “must haves” and “future nice to haves”. I took the “must haves” and drafted out a user flow and white-boarded out a few ideas.

I wireframed the entire app and created a clickable prototype that was used for user testing to make sure we were meeting the business and user goals. Any issues uncovered in user testing were addressed and adjusted accordingly in the wires. Once approved, we moved on to the visual design!

I sent the client two creative briefs, (color psychology & visual likes/dislikes) from which I created a moodboard that inspired the design. I worked on a look and feel and design system for the brand. I then created clickable prototype from these HiFi designs in Invision and we user tested them make sure we were still meeting the business/user goals. Once approved, I created a styleguide and uploaded the designs to Zeplin for dev handoff.

business challenge

How can we keep gym members engaged?

By creating a thriving community that helps clients & trainers meet goals, track progress and get actionable feedback. Trainers can make a deeper connection with their clients by sending them workout encouragement on off days keep them motivated, engaged and accountable. Trainers can also invite gym members to events or fitness classes and help connect them with other like-minded individuals.

Business challenge

How can we reduce the time spent on client managment?

With a well thought out client management system for engaging the community and streamlining client management tasks.

"Everything about our engagement from the start was great and exceeded our expectations."
